A GROWING number of children in Glasgow are on the child protection register.
New figures show 353 kids were listed last year, 45 more than the previous year.
The government report shows an increase in each of the past three years.
The figures for the whole of Scotland show there were 11,960 child protection referrals, of which 47% were for boys and 50% for girls.
The remainder were unknown because they were for unborn children.
In total 2593 children across Scotland were placed on the register.
The shocking figures show 80% of children were living at home prior to being referred and of that number the abuser or primary suspect in 85% of cases was the child's natural parent.
Children put on the register because of emotional abuse were up by 26%, and physical neglect up by 21% but the number due to sexual abuse was down by 11%.
At the end of March, 49% of all children were registered because of physical neglect, 23% because of physical injury, 18% because of emotional abuse and 9% because of sexual abuse.
