A New specialist children's centre could be unveiled in the grounds of Swansea's Morriston Hospital as early as next autumn.Key talks are getting underway on the plan to create a one-stop shop for youngsters who have complex health and social care needs. Campaigners have been fighting for years for a children's hospital in the city, and the new centre aims to offer all the top services under one roof for those facing long-term care. Services are currently spread across the city. The centre would mean parents of children with long-term problems would no longer face the inconvenience of making numerous appointments between the different sites and having to see professionals one by one. All that will change if plans to take over Swansea University's former school of health science building forges ahead. The school is moving its nurse education department site to the university site and also to St David's Park, Carmarthen. Swansea NHS Trust bosses have given the scheme approval in principal. Talks are now beginning with partner organisations and children's groups to see how best it can be moved forward. Joanne Davies, Swansea NHS Trust deputy director of planning, said: "If there are groups which are either providing services for children with complex needs, or have views on how these should be provided in future, we'd like them to come forward and speak to us. "We want to work with as many interested parties as possible to help design the best service possible under one roof.
