A TEENAGE girl has been spared the trauma of having her first baby born in jail at Christmas by the intervention of the victim she pummelled. The violent 17-year-old from Rhondda Cynon Taff who cannot be identified because of her age was put behind bars for four months by magistrates after she admitted going nuts in the assault at a valleys club. She kicked and punched the mother-of-six in a dispute earlier this year, and admitted causing actual bodily harm, telling police at the time: I just lost it. I went nuts. But the prospect of having the baby born over Christmas in jail prompted the victim and the authorities to review the sentence and released her after a month in custody, putting her instead on a community order with a course on temper management. Judge Stephen Hopkins QC told the teenager at Cardiff Crown Court: So bad was the kicking you gave her that you have since disposed of the boots you were wearing. The magistrates were quite right to lock you up but things have changed since. He said the sentence was being changed after her victim said she did not want her kept inside any longer.
