MADELEINE McCann's little brother and sister could be put on an "at risk" register after a child protection probe.
Social workers, doctors and family support officers held an emergency meeting yesterday to discuss the safety of two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie.
And police warned their parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, that their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, could be targeted in a hate campaign.
Today, Portuguese cops will hand a dossier of evidence to prosecutors calling for Kate, 39, to be charged with accidental homicide - the Portuguese equivalent of manslaughter.
The couple flew home at the weekend after they were named as official suspects in the four-year-old's disappearance from their holiday flat in Praia da Luz 131 days ago.
Now the twins could be removed from their care if a risk assessment goes against them.
Leicestershire County Council said: "We are aware of the situation. We take child protection issues very seriously."
A family law expert added: "Social workers will have no choice but to act.
